This is a cat named Herbert and he’s the sweetest boy. All he wants is chin scratches and to sit and roll around in the flowers.

I’m not one to take photos much ever, but I was enjoying the weather here and noticed this male Black Swallowtail Butterfly and instantly knew what to submit for this round. I expect a common theme this round, lots of nature and organics and landscapes and the reasons for loving it and I’m not gonna deviate from that.
The emergence from winter is always a welcome one, especially coming out of a dreary February. The return of color is of course one of the biggest highlights of spring. Flowers blooming, birds returning, and unfortunately for your outside comfort levels, a lot of annoying bugs returning. But I’m choosing this picture to highlight several things. Like I said, the return of color, butterflies exemplify beautifully. The reemergence of life. And the beauty that even bugs can have. This one in particular clearly just having emerged as a butterfly, not even able to fly yet, just walking around.
Things like this make me particularly happy about spring, because yes you can see greenery all around and such. But when you see something like this, something you don’t get to see every day you really just stop and enjoy the moment. Take a pause, clear your mind, appreciate the sights, the warmth of the outside, and the slow pace of life you get to feel for those few great moments.

Matt voted 2 points and said: "I love how rich the colors are here. They’re very, like, earthy but also very juicy and naturalistic. There’s a vintage something to the way the colors are processed here. The pops of green are just enough, too. It’s like tufts of hair sprout up between fingers; it’s random and scraggly but every one has the undeniable goal of poking up, through the earth, through the bricks. Every blade is lying there almost relaxed, like they’re resting from all the hard work of breaking through the ground. The purple is a nice little flourish too. "

I had no idea that this was an Azalea bush, for the longest time it was just some green shrubbery. So come to my surprise last year when it was one of the worst weeks in a very long time, the flowers bloomed the same week. I know it was just coincidence, but it felt like a little sign that things were gonna be okay. So to me it symbolizes the passing of time and fleeting moments in life, the “this too shall pass” of it all, and to the new beginnings that spring brings 🌸

I have a deep, genuine love for the beauty of clouds that stems back to when I was young. From the fluffy white dots against the bright blue spring sky, the windy wisps mimicking field rows, to the I can only describe as resembling oil paintings. They're all gorgeous.
The sight of the sky has always brought a sense of freedom, a wonder of what else there is. Spring brings new growth and life. I often would be settling into a new area or going on hours long trips in the spring, getting to see a new sky all along the way. Its fascinating how the spring clouds are so different from the harsh gray of winter.
I have countless pictures in my gallery of the sky, specifically in the spring, from years past. This one is from my favorite place on our walking path, at the top of the hill. One of my favorite overlooks is probably in the mountain range in the far distance (if my angles are right). We'll delve into my love for mountains in another submission, esp as summer comes, I'm sure.
Anyway, can you tell I love spring skies?

I saw this tree in town today and the bright pink colors with all of the people out and about in the background really just screamed “spring” to me. I think spring is a time of awakening and growth for people and plants and this really captured that for me. I love nothing more than seeing how vibrant our community becomes when the weather turns

I was sitting outside as the sun set, enjoying the sounds of the birds and the freshly potted flowers and the gentle rock of my arbor swing. And I leaned back and saw the sun peek between the ropes and was hit with a beautiful "yes." Yes patio season is back, yes nights are longer, yes short sleeves are warm enough, yes things are going to be okay, yes, spring is here 🌅🪺🌸

“Janie had spent most of the day under a blossoming pear tree in the backyard…. It had called her to come and gaze on a mystery. From barren brown stems to glistening leaf buds; from the leaf buds to snowy virginity of bloom. It stirred her tremendously.” - Zora Neale Hurston

I found a spot in a fencerow with trees of the various stages of spring growth: bare branches with a few buds, a fully flowered tree, and new growth leaves. Spring arrives, even if some are more slow to take to the warmer weather than others.
